Each year our new Mr. Bear San Diego elects and presents his charities for his term as Mr. Bear San Diego.
Special Delivery San Diego has been saving lives and filling bellies with nourishment since 1991. They are a non-profit organization with a staff that is 100% volunteer! They currently cook and deliver fresh, homemade and nutritious meals to 130+ individuals and families five days a week!
Special Delivery’s mission is to alleviate hunger and malnourishment for those living with AIDS, Cancer and other critical illnesses & to people medically homebound throughout the San Diego community. Fresh, wholesome food is prepared, infused with love and home-delivered to feed both the body and the soul.
Auntie Helen's envisions a community where people living with HIV/AIDS can have an empowered, loving life without barriers. Auntie Helen’s started in 1988 as a Fluff & Fold for those affected with HIV/AIDS. In 1989, we grew to generate support for the benefit of those affected, by providing a community thrift store.
They have now broadened their resources to serve as a link to medical care and mental health programs for those who are positive, as well as to provide resources for their families and friends. Auntie Helen’s partners with medical clinics in San Diego to offer free preventative care, confidential testing, and educational resources for preventive drugs. In doing so, they hope to be part of the future without AIDS.
Recently, due to the current economic climate and pandemic, Auntie Helen's has gone from feeding 25-40 individuals to 1600 or more! They work with case managers and provide weekly bags of groceries, free laundry services, and clothing vouchers!
